Food Hygiene Awareness

This course will benefit anyone who handles food preparation, serves food or caters for functions and events, gatherings such as church socials, christenings, weddings or even hosting a dinner party.

It will also benefit anyone who desires a certificate to support a CV for catering purposes or for use in the Health & Social Care sector.

 

 Learning Outcomes

By the end of the session you will be able to:

 

  • Explain the relevance of The Food Safety Act
  • Appreciate the need for HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point)
  • Understand the different types of bacteria and how these can cause food poising and illness
  • Describe various ways in which cross contamination may occur
  • Describe the importance of good personal and environmental hygiene

  • Legislation
  • Food hygiene hazards
  • Safe food handing
  • Cross contamination
  • Importance of temperature control (refrigeration, cold holding, chilling, cooking, reheating, hot holding)
  • Cleaning and hygiene
  • Premises and equipment

 

Cost: £20 (includes certificate, handouts & light refreshments)
